Lately I have been trying out different essential oils. Some are awesome for their scent, some for antiseptic purposes, candles, insect deterrent, etc. I saw the opportunity to review the Tea Tree oil. Tea Tree Oil is known for its antiseptic purposes and is a staple of many households. I received my Tea Tree oil at a deep discount in exchange of an honest and unbiased review. The opinions stated below are 100% mine.
Now I am a retired nurse with an interest in natural remedies, they don't cause many side effects like most prescribed medicines do. I have done a little research and have found that Tea Tree oil has many medicinal uses. It is used for warts, cuts, scrapes, bee stings, sunburns, etc. It has the practically the same antiseptic qualities and has the scent of liniment. Also you can use the oil as a cleaner in the house. So below are the ways that I personally have used it since I received it.
One of my grandchildren has a couple of warts on her hand and between her fingers. Some are larger and some are smaller, the smaller ones have almost disappeared and the larger ones seem to be getting smaller in size. You can place the oil directly to the wart, the good thing about this oil is that it causes no pain and does not burn the skin like most home remedies for warts. The best and the way I recommend to use it is place it on the wart and apply a bandaid (can be left open to air but tends to work better if covered). Do this a couple times a day, I chose morning and night. I have seen some improvements in the warts she has. Now this treatment takes time to work and may take weeks to clear them up completely.
Another way I have used this is an antiseptic. My son cut a couple of his fingers, one pretty deep. I used the dropper and put some directly on the cut after washing it and covered with a bandaid. He said it didn't get as sore a usual (much like liniment). The oil cleanses the wound and kills bacteria that may cause infection. It has been 5 days since he cut himself and it shows no signs of infection. The wound is almost healed as well.
After working out in the sun all day, my son got a pretty bad sunburn to his shoulders and the back of his neck. He was burning horribly, I used tea tree oil for this as well. It tends to sting a little at first but quickly absorbs and stops much of the burning. As said before it also has antiseptic qualities and promotes skin healing. I was surprised that he didn't complain much with the burn after the Tea Tree oil was applied.
You can also place the oil in a diffuser when you have a cold or cough. It fills the air with a vapor type aroma that seems to help with a cough. I was also told by a friend that it helps with acne really well. Just place tea tree oil on a new pimple and it should heal much quicker (antiseptic). Was also told you could use it for toenail fungus, it too (like warts) takes time to heal and may take weeks or even months to see the difference. Just place on an unpainted toenail, around nail and under nail as much as possible. Then cover with a bandaid.
I am pleased so far in the results I have seen with this Tea Tree oil. I am still researching the healing effects and different ways it can be used. Every house should have at least one bottle of this essential oil.
